Tenimenti Civa
10/2026: Over just a few years, Tenimenti Civa, based in Friuli-Venezia Giulia in north-eastern Italy, has transformed itself from a newly established winery into an internationally successful wine brand. Underpinning this rapid growth are not only high-quality wines, but also a clear vision, cutting-edge technology and close collaboration with Vetropack.

Anyone aiming at succeeding in the wine industry today needs a clear vision. Both climatic conditions and customer demands are changing, and with tens of thousands of suppliers plus global competition, it is essential to offer something special and develop a distinctive brand. This is exactly what Valerio Civa and his team of around 40 employees have achieved. Particularly impressive is the timeframe: Tenimenti Civa – situated in the eastern hills of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in north-eastern Italy, not far from the border with Slovenia – was founded as recently as January 2016. Its location between the Julian Prealps and the Adriatic Sea offers ideal conditions for viticulture. The mild climate and surrounding woodlands promote biodiversity and give the vines their distinctive character.
Putting native grapes on the world stage
Today, the estate owns vineyards in Bellazoia and Manzano, covering a total area of 100 hectares – with 40 hectares dedicated exclusively to the native Ribolla Gialla grape variety, which is increasingly being recognised as a premium product. Depending on the product to be developed, careful selections are made from the 144 different varieties that are being cultivated in an experimental vineyard. Tenimenti Civa already exports around 25% of its wines to over 40 countries worldwide. Millions of bottles are produced every year: mainly white wines, but, depending on the season, also red and rosé, as well as semi-sparkling and traditional sparkling wines like Prosecco and Spumante.

«After years of dedication and hard work, we have succeeded in bringing high-quality Italian wines to the global retail market. These include major brands and prestigious names representing Italian excellence worldwide.»
His ‘Cantina 4.0’ is one of the most modern wineries in Italy and is strongly focused on automation and digitalisation. This allows an unprecedented level of traceability in wine production. The entire production process, from grape harvest to pressing, from racking to bottling, is meticulously documented. ‘The only thing we don’t know for certain is where the wine will ultimately be sold. That depends on our distributors,’ Civa concludes.
Unique glass packaging, exceptional reliability
Tenimenti Civa’s partnership with glass container manufacturer Vetropack has played a key role since the very beginning. Both companies share a commitment to quality, sustainability and innovation. Today, Tenimenti Civa sources 14 different glass containers from Vetropack – including both standard shapes and bespoke designs. The bottle bearing the product name ‘Abram’, for example, was designed by Valerio Civa himself: ‘As a young and emerging brand, it is essential for us to stand out on the shelves and convey exceptional quality. That is why we need high-quality glass containers that are as unique as possible – and Vetropack supplies them to us with great reliability, even in times of crisis.’
A true partnership for greater sustainability
The companies are also at the forefront when it comes to sustainability. For example, the weight of the ‘Ducale’ bottle has already been reduced from 850 to 600 grams, while that of another standard container has fallen from 500 to 460 grams. Every gram saved reduces the amount of material used in production and lowers energy consumption during transport and delivery – thereby significantly limiting CO₂ emissions; the optimised bottle design also makes them less prone to breakage.
Lightweighting requires careful balance, as Valerio Civa points out: ‘On the one hand, the bottles must remain stable, for example in terms of internal pressure, particularly for sparkling wines. On the other hand, we also need to consider customer expectations and perceptions. Fortunately, our collaboration with Vetropack has developed into a genuine partnership.’

Towards new horizons with vision and passion
The company’s founder believes Tenimenti Civa still has enormous potential. The export business is still in its early stages, and Valerio Civa estimates the market potential in relation to the company’s production capacity. The company also intends to enter the high-end agritourism sector – a project currently under development. In addition, the company is working hard to obtain the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) designation for its Ribolla Gialla.
Valerio Civa concludes: ‘We have great momentum when it comes to the ongoing development of our brand and products. So, we are delighted to have a partner like Vetropack, a company that combines innovative strength, sustainability and stability. Together, we are looking to the future with optimism, aiming to bring elegance and authenticity to wine shops, hotels and restaurants around the world.’
