Employee Spotlight: Miroslav Šimeček
“I enjoy working with people, and I like it that all the diverse aspects of my job are geared to one goal: to optimise the added value created from all the raw materials, work, energy and experience that go into the production process.”
My name is Miroslav Šimeček, and I joined the glass factory in Kyjov back in October 1979 – 43 years ago. I began my career at Kyjov as a designer, and went on to work as a clerk in the Basic Resources department. Then, in 1988, I was appointed as Cold End Supervisor: at the age of 29, I was responsible for managing 200 employees working five shifts. This was a huge challenge, but I never regretted accepting it – because working with people is what really fulfils me.
Automation and robotics mean that I don’t manage as many people today, but I still enjoy my work. I’m responsible for making sure that the tasks assigned to the cold operation are performed correctly and consistently. They include inspecting the manufactured products and their packaging: these must comply with all the specified technological, quality, hygiene and ecological regulations. New tasks, challenges and problems are waiting for me every day: I try to tackle them with a calm, positive approach, by offering explanations and maintaining positive motivation. I am happy when I can praise my colleagues and show my appreciation of them for a job well done.
