Dismantling activities in St-Prex are on track

31.08.2026: The dismantling of the production facilities at the St-Prex site is well under way. Over the past few months, the team has focused primarily on taking apart the melting furnace. Working alongside specialist external contractors, it has dismantled the individual components step by step and prepared them for further use. This marks an important milestone in one of the most complex projects since production ceased.

At the same time, the team gradually delivered the remaining stocks of recycled glass and quartz sand to other Vetropack plants and external partners. In total, around 8,000 tonnes of material have left the St-Prex site since the beginning of March, requiring around 300 shipments. Planning and coordinating these material flows posed major challenges for the team over several months. With the final deliveries completed in mid-August, this milestone was also successfully reached.

Equipment from St-Prex supports other plants

Numerous items of plant and technical equipment from St-Prex are being reused within the Vetropack Group. Several plants are already benefiting from these existing resources. Production equipment, inspection machines and other technical equipment have been transferred to various sites, where they will be used in future production and infrastructure projects. Reusing the equipment is an important part of the orderly decommissioning process and helps to make effective use of existing production capacity over the long term.

Even after the major dismantling projects have been completed, there is still work to be done at the site. A small team is coordinating the remaining tasks. With the completion of the final decommissioning work, the orderly withdrawal from St-Prex will reach another important milestone.
