Joining forces for a sustainable future: Vetropack is a co-founder of Swiss REuse
10.09.2025: The foundation of Swiss REuse – Switzerland’s first reusable packaging association – marks a major step towards the circular economy. As a co-founder of the association, Vetropack is actively committed to promoting reusable packaging, and the company is contributing its many years of expertise in developing sustainable packaging solutions.
«Reusable packaging is an appropriate addition to our existing range of packaging solutions. With Swiss REuse, we’re creating the conditions for a packaging system in Switzerland that’s fit for the future – and we’re adopting a joint, solution-oriented approach that’s clearly focused on sustainability.»
Swiss REuse aims to establish reusable packaging as the standard – by advocating cross-sector cooperation, shared standards, and overall political conditions. Vetropack supports this vision with practical solutions and a clear commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
Impetus from Austria: when innovation meets practice
Vetropack’s collaboration with Brau Union Österreich is one example of how this vision can be successfully realised. The partners jointly developed a thermally strengthened lightweight glass bottle that serves as a standard solution for the Austrian market. This innovative technology makes it possible to produce robust, lightweight reusable bottles that offer convincing environmental and economic advantages.
This bottle is already being used for the new Gösser Biostoff Lager – a product that combines sustainability with enjoyment, targeted at the needs of a new generation of consumers. Under the auspices of the L-MW Reusable Logistics Alliance, the solution has been jointly coordinated with the trade, breweries and service providers – marking a milestone for Austria’s reuse economy.
A strong network for Switzerland
Experience gained in Austria is feeding directly into the work of Swiss REuse. The Vetropack Group is playing an active part in developing a harmonised system for Switzerland – with the aim of making reusable packaging more visible, more efficient and more economically attractive.
