Employee Spotlight: Jan Dörr
At just 25 years old, Hot End Workshop Operator Jan Dörr already looks back on a remarkable career at Vetropack Austria – and that in the third generation. His grandfather, Franz Dörr Sr., worked as a machine operator at the hot end, and his father, Franz Dörr Jr., is still employed as a foreman in the IS workshop.
Jan’s journey with Vetropack began rather coincidentally. Even during his school years, he regularly worked as a summer intern in the IS workshop. After graduating from the Stiftsgymnasium Melk and completing his military service, he originally planned to study business administration. To bridge the gap, he started working as a conversion mechanic at Vetropack – and stayed! His passion for hands-on work turned out to be greater than expected.
Shortly afterward, Jan began his apprenticeship as a glass process technician, which he completed with distinction in April 2023. His talent and dedication were quickly recognized by colleagues and supervisors, and soon he was entrusted with the role of interim job change supervisor. Since the end of 2023, Jan has also been supporting the training of apprentices and new employees at the training center. In January 2024, he took on a leading role in various projects within the VPPS (Vetropack Productionsystem) area. In the fall of 2024, he additionally began training as a safety specialist. From June 2025, Jan will also be helping to shape production processes at the Pöchlarn site as the new Assistant Production Manager.
His commitment also extends to his personal life: whether on the football field, on the ice, or in the summer with the inline hockey players. And when time allows, Jan enjoys traveling and exploring the world.
