ISO 14001 is the leading international standard for environmental management systems (EMS). It defines requirements for systematically recording and evaluating the environmental aspects of a company's activities, products and services. An EMS certified according to this standard helps companies to identify relevant aspects, take appropriate measures and create a transparent basis for monitoring and reducing the environmental impact of their operations.

In Hum na Sutli, the TÜV NORD Adriatic auditors particularly highlighted the good alignment of environmental protection measures with the company's risks and objectives and the consistent realisation of annual targets. “This first certification confirms the success of our efforts, above all those of our local employees,” says Christoph Burgermeister, Group IMS and Corporate Development Director. “However, we are aware that our efforts cannot end here. To be able to implement our strategic goals in the long term, we are working towards continuously improving existing environmental management systems – as we did in Hum na Sutli – and to have them certified at all our sites.

Vetropack’s commitment to the highest standards goes beyond environmental protection. Occupational health and safety as well as food safety are not only legal requirements, but also central elements of corporate responsibility. The recertification of the relevant management systems (ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000) is an important step, and not just for Vetropack Straža: “For us, operational business excellence means considering every aspect of quality management in our daily work and continuously developing our efforts,” Christoph Burgermeister summarises.
