Employee Spotlight: Karlo Hercigonja

Karlo Hercigonja started his journey with Vetropack as a scholarship student during his studies. After graduating from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at University of Zagreb, he joined Vetropack Straža as an IT network specialist. This was an excellent opportunity for him to leverage his expertise in process automation while working with an IT team that supported production operations.

From the start, Karlo felt a strong sense of belonging to the Group IT department. He is particularly driven by the opportunity to work on new technology implementations and digital innovations aimed at enhancing connectivity and improving the user experience.

After a bit more than two years, Karlo has been promoted to a new role as Group IT Supervisor (within Digital Infrastructure department) responsible for network connectivity and overseeing a team of seven people across all Vetropack sites. Managing a multinational team, with its diverse perspectives and the challenge of bridging physical distances, has been both rewarding and fulfilling.

"What I value most at Vetropack is the accelerated development in the IT field and the drive for higher standards. Positive feedback from my colleagues especially drives me forward and proves that I'm performing well, even though I took on my new role at a young age. Every new project is an opportunity for both personal and team growth," Karlo shares, reflecting his commitment to continuous improvement and embracing new challenges.

Outside of work, Karlo enjoys playing tennis, skiing, and belote – a card game he often plays with friends and family. He also values spending quality time with friends and enjoys working in the vineyard, helping his father. Although a knee injury has temporarily slowed him down, he looks forward to returning to his favourite activities as soon as he's fully recovered.
