Employee Spotlight: Nicolas Lootens

“I consider myself very lucky to have this role, which I find very meaningful. However, all of us can contribute to sustainability in our everyday lives – both at work and at home.”

My name is Nicolas Lootens, and I joined Vetropack in April this year as Group Sustainability Manager. I’m originally from France, but I now work for the Vetropack Group in Italy: my job involves collaboration with colleagues across all Vetropack locations.

We have defined some ambitious sustainability goals in our 2030 strategy. Even so, it’s important to point out that we’re not starting from scratch with our sustainability activities. For instance, we’ve already reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 74% since the 1990s. Our recent bold commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is just one example of management’s willingness to make our company truly sustainable. This willingness, and the trust shown by our management, are just two of the reasons why I like working at Vetropack. As well as those aspects, I like the teamwork: both in Italy and also across the whole Group, everybody is very friendly and helpful.

I consider myself very lucky to have this role, which I find very meaningful. However, all of us can contribute to sustainability in our everyday lives – both at work and at home. My goal is to make sustainability a part of everybody’s job, to some extent: ‘embedded sustainability’ is what we really want to achieve.
