Employee Spotlight: Daryl Mint

When you ask Daryl why he's been working at Vetropack for so long in spite of the distance he has to travel, he wastes no words: "Because I enjoy it!" Daryl Lee Mint started his career at Vetropack’s Kremsmünster plant back in October 2001 as a Cold End Operator – and soon afterwards, he moved on to become a Hot End Operator. But his name tells you something about him: Daryl actually hails from England! So: how does an Englishman end up working for Vetropack in Kremsmünster?

Daryl Lee Mint originally comes from a small town to the east of London, where he was already working in the glass industry. While holidaying on the Greek island of Kos in June 1998, he met a lady from the Austrian province of Styria – and in November of the same year, he moved to Linz to be with her. During a train journey to visit his in-laws in Styria, Daryl noticed the Vetropack bottle warehouses in Kremsmünster. This familiar landmark from home aroused his interest and, just a few weeks later, Daryl started working at Vetropack.

Since starting a family and moving to a new home in 2002, he has been driving an hour to start his shift every day. When you ask Daryl why he's been working at Vetropack for so long in spite of the distance he has to travel, he wastes no words: "Because I enjoy it!" And it shows: his colleagues give him a warm welcome whenever he comes on duty and according to them, “our Mint” is always in good spirits and bursting with energy.
