On 25th October 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony and press conference for the new glassworks was held in Boffalora sopra Ticino. This important event was attended by some national, regional and local authorities, GSE Italia S.r.l., responsible for the civil and urbanization part, CM.Project.ing, a German engineering company responsible for the whole procedural part, and the many external partners who supported Vetropack Italia in this long journey.

The ceremony was held in Via Magenta 94, in Boffalora sopra Ticino, where the new Vetropack glassworks will be inaugurated in 2023. Vetropack Holding and Vetropack Italia representatives performed the groundbreaking in the presence of the Italian authorities.

The authorities and the Vetropack representatives then moved to Villa Calderari, also located in Boffalora sopra Ticino, where all guests were able to follow the celebration via live streaming and where, shortly afterwards, the press conference was held. Many speeches underlined the importance of this great investment, not only for the Municipality of Boffalora, but for the whole country. Manlio Di Stefano, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, defined it as "the biggest investment project of a Swiss Group in Italy for its size and impact". This stands to show that Vetropack represents a model Company, from both a national and international perspective.
